The upcoming remake of
Poltergeist has
already shown
that it will be reimagining some of the most iconic moments from the
original film, including a young girl sitting in front of a
static-filled television and a killer evil tree, but it's the famous
clown that has wound up being front and center of the movie's new
poster. You can check it out below:

This new poster comes to us from
Games Radar,
and it's definitely quite terrifying. The mouth alone is creepy - as
nothing that's not evil or insane smiles that big - but it's really the
eyes that may induce pant-wetting. After all, those are some very
human-looking eyeballs, and they are a lot more "alive" than the ones
featured in one of the
Poltergeist remake's
first stills.

Of course, the biggest question that arises is whether or not it is
scarier than the clown from Tobe Hooper's classic. I'd argue that the
poster version of the remake clown is definitely scarier than the more
innocuous version of the original doll:

But the more straightforward evil version definitely does give it a run for it's money.

For what it's worth, I still think Tim Curry's Pennywise from
It would make them both run up a tree.
Gil Kenan, who made his directorial debut with the critically-lauded animated movie
Monster House back in 2006, and followed it up with
City of Ember in 2008, is taking the helm of the
Poltergeist
remake, and in addition to one seriously terrifying looking clown, the
movie will also feature the likes of Sam Rockwell, Jared Harris,
Rosemarie DeWitt, Kyle Calett and Nicholas Braun in the lead roles. As
is seen boldly at the bottom of the poster up top, the film will be
arriving in theaters on May 22nd. Do you have set plans to purchase a
ticket?
